About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, create, and maintain software and systems to improve service availability, scalability, and efficiency
  • Set the architectural direction of infrastructure and platform services
  • Design and implement tools and processes for deployment, change, service, and infrastructure management
  • Troubleshoot and debug critical systems throughout the SDLC
  • Contribute to the evolution and performance of engineering platform capabilities
  • Perform capacity planning and demand forecasting
  • Participate in rotating on-call duties
  • Collaborate with product development, developer experience, backend infrastructure, Engineering, and Applied Science teams

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Extensive fluency in AWS and Linux
  • Ability to effectively read, write, and debug code in production-facing systems
  • Expertise in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems
  • Knowledge of DNS, TLS, HTTP/S, and TCP/IP
  • Ability to decompose complex problems and understand delivery tradeoffs
  • 5 years of experience managing infrastructure and systems
  • Demonstrable knowledge of instrumenting, operating, and observing distributed microservice systems in a production cloud environment
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with cross-functional partners of various technical levels
