About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Migrate accounting from the external partner into an in-house function, including monthly close and consolidation across New Zealand, Australia, Canada, and the United States
- Manage compliance and intercompany processes across every entity
- Oversee accounts payable and payroll processing across all entities
- Own finance systems end to end, including ERP, billing integration, sales tax tooling, and the single source of truth for financial metrics
- Design finance operations around automation and AI, including close, reconciliations, AP, reporting, and compliance calendars
- Build controls, delegation of authority, and approval processes
- Own accounting for the deployed camera fleet, including asset register, capitalization, depreciation, recovery, and write-offs
- Own inventory across regions, including stock counts, valuation, landed cost, and provisions
- Manage tariff, customs, and duty costs on hardware imports
- Track camera unit economics and cash tied up in fleet growth
- Optimize working capital
- Own revenue recognition for bundled hardware, software, installation, services, and partner/channel arrangements
- Lead and develop the Billing Analyst; oversee invoicing, collections, DSO, deferred revenue, and credit risk
- Own cash management, runway reporting, banking, FX exposure, and debt facilities
- Reconcile ARR, NRR, gross margin, and burn multiple to the ledger
- Build and maintain the budget, forecast, and scenario model with the CEO and external finance partner
- Deliver monthly budget-versus-actual reporting to leadership owners
- Deliver monthly and quarterly board-pack financials
- Support pricing and deal analysis and flag commercial and credit risk before contract signature
- Own statutory accounts and entity filings in every jurisdiction
- Own regular reporting to existing investors
- Prepare the company for investor diligence and future capital raises, including diligence and the data room
- Run equity administration and the cap table, including US 409A valuations when required
- Own tax compliance across New Zealand, Australia, Canada, and the United States
- Own transfer pricing and intercompany processes and documentation
- Own R&D tax incentive claims
- Own the insurance program across all regions, including broker relationships, renewals, coverage, and certificates
- Work closely with the CEO, external advisors, Automation Engineer, Sales, Product, Engineering, and Operations teams
- Periodic travel to North America required
Requirements
What you’ll need- CA or CPA qualified
- 10+ years in finance
- 3+ years leading a finance function in a high-growth business
- Has brought outsourced accounting in-house before
- Experience with hardware-as-a-service, leasing, or bundled hardware and subscription accounting
- Multi-entity consolidation across at least three jurisdictions
- US entity accounting and reconciling US GAAP with IFRS
- Has taken a business through investor diligence or a full external audit
- Has owned finance systems, not just used them
- Has automated finance processes and uses AI in their own work day to day
- Strong financial modelling
- Inventory, landed cost, and physical product COGS experience is a strong plus
- Transfer pricing and intercompany experience in a multi-country group is a strong plus
- Channel or partner revenue arrangements experience is a strong plus
- Canadian or US entity experience is a strong plus
- Xero at multi-entity scale is a strong plus
- Chargebee and HubSpot experience is a strong plus
