About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Research, develop, and deploy control software, graphics, 3D rendering and/or computer vision software
Identify new technologies addressing client needs or creating significant performance improvements
Evaluate the feasibility, cost, and benefits of incorporating new technologies into company systems and products
Incorporate selected technologies into power products with company, parent company, and third-party development teams
Define modifications to existing tools and features of new tools needed to engineer and commission products
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the parent company for design, development planning, and project execution
Provide technical consulting, coaching, and training to engineering and commissioning team members
Provide technical support to the business unit sales team through technical presentations and proposal review and advice
Identify and define interfaces between complex software modules and functions
Write software modules to satisfy project requirements
Ensure software modules inter-operate within the overall project in collaboration with the project team
Design and conduct simulations to verify software modules satisfy project requirements
Comply with company policies, practices, procedures, regulations, and laws
Recommend viable improvements proactively and ensure effective utilization of business tools and processes

Requirements

What you’ll need

BS degree in electrical, mechanical, software or related engineering; or related physical or applied science; or equivalent via education and/or work experience
2 years’ related experience designing and engineering automation or control systems
Demonstrated software programming skills using C++ and/or OpenCV, DirectX, OpenGL, C#
Demonstrated innovative problem-solving skills
Demonstrated successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other internal and external contacts
Demonstrated successful and positive personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills
Demonstrated continuous improvement in areas of responsibility
Proficiency in MS Office
Availability to travel domestically and internationally, up to 25% of the time, often with limited notice
Preferred: Masters or PhD in software engineering with a concentration in controls, computer vision and/or GPU techniques
Preferred: 3 years’ experience applying advanced technologies and/or software methodologies to automation or control systems
Preferred: Successful development of a new control product that advanced overall capability and was commercially successful
Preferred: Demonstrated skills in 3D modeling techniques, GPU drivers & capabilities, natural scene rendering
Preferred: Demonstrated skills using MATLAB
Preferred: Demonstrated skills in creating human machine interfaces and system configuration utilities
