About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Directly lead two or more teams of engineers within Trading Platform
Lead development of TopstepX, a real-time system used by tens of thousands of traders daily
Own the area by identifying problems early, taking action, and making decisions autonomously
Coach engineers for growth, address performance issues early, and maintain a high performance bar
Work with Product and the business to prioritize work and keep teams delivering as plans change
Be accountable for system availability, performance, quality, and resilience
Set the hiring bar, run interviews, and plan team capacity with other Engineering Managers
Proactively communicate progress, risks, and trade-offs upward
Disagree openly and constructively, including with leadership

Requirements

What you’ll need

2+ years of people or technical leadership experience, including hiring, coaching, and developing engineers across levels
7+ years of software engineering experience, including production systems and integrations
Experience in startup or other fast-paced environments
Experience leading teams that own production systems, including on-call, incident response, and observability
Hands-on background in .NET/C# and distributed systems
Track record of balancing feature delivery against reliability and technical investment
Working experience with AWS and containers, including Docker and Kubernetes
Experience building a culture of psychological safety
Preferred: trading, fintech, or other regulated financial environments, especially futures or trading platforms
Preferred: high-availability, low-latency, or real-time systems; microservices and real-time messaging such as WebSocket/SignalR
Preferred: observability tooling such as APM, tracing, and synthetic checks
Preferred: CI/CD tooling such as Argo CD and GitHub Actions
Preferred: familiarity with mobile application development, including React Native
