About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the Tax Manager on taxation matters for certain UK subsidiaries.
  • Produce IFRS Tax Accounts covering current and deferred Corporation Tax for financial statements.
  • Prepare Corporation Tax numbers for half-yearly/yearly reporting in CONETS to Japan.
  • Prepare Corporation Tax Returns using Alphatax and submit yearly returns to HMRC.
  • Liaise with external advisors regarding international tax compliance, including the BEPS initiative.
  • Assist with transfer pricing compliance.
  • Monitor Group Relief claims or surrenders and manage related loss payments between entities.
  • Produce quarterly VAT Returns.
  • Assist with PAYE Settlement Agreement Claims and Incentive Scheme Reporting.
  • Maintain the Senior Accounting Officer Compliance process and tax procedures.
  • Set up tax processes for new entities with support from the Tax Manager.
  • Assist in CONETS preparation.
  • Provide treasury accounting cover.
  • Undertake project work.
  • Perform other appropriate duties as required by the line manager.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Previous knowledge and understanding of VAT and preparing VAT returns.
  • Experience of partial exemption.
  • Working knowledge of Corporation Tax.
  • Previous experience of working in corporate and deferred tax accounting.
  • Experience of setting up tax affairs of acquisitions would be desirable.
  • Experience of working in a tax compliance or advisory role within a commercial environment, HMRC or in practice.
  • Proficiencies in using Microsoft Office software, including Excel at intermediate/advanced level.
  • Experience of using Alphatax is an advantage.
  • Good time management and organisational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, including confidence in presenting.
  • Self-motivated and proactive worker.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Able to work effectively with all levels of staff and external partners.
