About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build and own the coding-agent harness, including context, tools, instructions, environments, and feedback loops
- Make the repository easier for agents and humans to understand and change
- Build automated verification using tests, E2E, browser checks, static analysis, and other evidence
- Design the merge-request handoff with scope, summaries, risks, and proof for efficient human review
- Develop reliable CI and disposable environments for agents
- Establish risk-based human approval gates
- Define metrics for agent success, rework, review effort, lead time, and escaped defects
- Turn effective individual AI workflows into team-wide engineering capabilities
- Help the engineering team safely ship customer value at agent speed with less cognitive load
- Collaborate closely with product and customer problems in a small product organization
- Participate in a working-session interview demonstrating AI workflow, delegation, context, verification, and risk judgment
Requirements
What you’ll need- Roughly 7+ years as a software engineer, or equivalent evidence of operating at Staff level
- Extensive experience writing, reviewing, and operating production software
- Claude Code, Codex, or equivalent coding agents central to your work
- Experience building harnesses, scripts, tool/MCP integrations, repository instructions, verification loops, or multi-step agent workflows
- Deep understanding of context engineering, testing, CI, code review, and human cognitive load
- Ability to review difficult merge requests and identify architectural problems, bad abstractions, and weak tests
- Experience with developer tooling, CI/CD, testing infrastructure, or engineering productivity
- Ability to work inside the product codebase and on surrounding tooling
- Fluent German and English language skills required
- Experience with Ruby on Rails, React, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and GitLab CI is useful
- Strong production-engineering judgment
- Ability to experiment continuously and demonstrate failed and successful approaches
