About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business
- Underwrite and negotiate complex customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability
- Cultivate relationships with internal partners to create sales plans and identify cross-selling opportunities
- Maintain external agent and broker relationships by meeting in person to market and sell Travelers products
- Identify and capture new business opportunities using consultative marketing and sales skills
- Develop and execute agency sales plans and partner with the Managing Director on region/group sales plans
- Assist in training and mentoring less experienced Account Executives
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree
- Four years of underwriting, claim, operations, risk assessment, actuarial, sales, product, or finance experience
- Six to eight years of relevant underwriting experience with experience in Ocean Marine
- Deep knowledge of Ocean Marine products, the regulatory environment, and the local insurance market
- Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to identify underwriting, marketing, or financial challenges and analyze information for timely decisions
- Excellent communication skills and ability to negotiate in difficult situations with agents and brokers
- CPCU designation
- Ability to travel to in-person meetings with agents and brokers
