About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Compile and review financial data for reporting and accuracy
Prepare, evaluate, and complete components of internal management-based financial reporting consistent with corporate policies and standards
Prepare, evaluate, and complete components of external financial statements, including GAAP, SEC, and STAT reporting
Maintain timely and accurate books and records for internal and external reporting
Prepare journal entries and reconciliations
Complete annual and quarterly financial reporting, including Statutory Financial Statements and other regulatory financial filings
Monitor and implement regulatory financial reporting changes
Ensure timely submission of statutory financial filings to State Insurance Departments and the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC)
Maintain a strong control environment
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, and/or professional designations such as CPA, CMA or comparable advanced professional education
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
Knowledge of accounting theory and practice
Written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail and ability to convey information effectively
Ability to leverage analytical skills to access and gather data, including a basic understanding of what the data represents
Ability to proactively manage time and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to solve challenges and make recommendations for more efficient processes
Experience using Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Experience using financial reporting software such as TM1, Essbase, or Hyperion
