About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Handle lower-value and lower-complexity claims under close supervision
- Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve assigned claims
- Analyze and apply policy coverage accurately
- Negotiate and settle claims proactively and reserve claims accurately
- Instruct, liaise with, and manage external vendors while monitoring service quality and costs
- Authorize claim payments and reserves within agreed handling authority
- Maintain data accuracy
- Develop and maintain effective external and internal business relationships
- Support team members and participate in individual and shared project work
- Communicate actions and their impact across technical, operational, sales, and financial disciplines
- Participate in training and learning and development activities
- Perform other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- Some prior insurance claims, underwriting, or legal work-related experience preferred, such as paralegal, solicitor, trainee barrister, or similar
- General technical knowledge sufficient to handle an assigned claims caseload within designated handling authority
- Basic or preferably intermediate knowledge of the UK legal system
- Some practical experience of litigation and/or coverage work in an insurance or legal environment
- Ability to handle claims competently in line with technical standards, best practices, and service level standards
- Good communication skills
- Ability and confidence to speak directly with internal stakeholders and insureds on professional lines matters
- Intermediate business perspective
- Intermediate ability to build collaborative relationships
