About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Participate in structured training covering insurance policies, claim processes, systems, and procedures
- Review, investigate, and document first-party property claims under direct supervision
- Gather information from policyholders, claimants, witnesses, and third-party providers
- Investigate and evaluate relevant facts and documents, including leases, contracts, and bylaws
- Determine and apply coverage for building damages according to policy terms
- Establish accurate scopes of damage for building and contents losses
- Prepare written estimates and/or computer-assisted estimates
- Communicate timely and professionally with customers, claimants, and internal stakeholders
- Maintain accurate claim activity records in claim management systems
- Adapt to AI, digital transformation, technology implementations, system upgrades, and digital tool rollouts
- Acquire and maintain relevant insurance licenses and/or UAS Remote Pilot Certification within three months of starting
- Assess and inspect all areas of dwellings or structures, including roofs, attics, and crawl spaces
- Travel extensively, including overnight stays, to support customers across multiple locations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree listed as an ideal candidate qualification
- High School Diploma or GED
- One year of customer service experience
- Valid driver's license
- Previous internship or work experience in customer service or insurance
- Willingness to obtain an active adjuster license where required by state law
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Willingness to learn claims management and estimating software
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to exercise sound judgement and make effective decisions within established authority
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Basic conflict resolution skills
- Must reside in the assigned Salisbury, MD; Denton, MD; and Dover, DE service territory
- Ability to assess and inspect roofs, attics, crawl spaces, and other confined areas
- Ability to carry, set up, and climb ladders weighing approximately 38–49 pounds
- May require extensive travel, including overnight stays
- Willingness to acquire and maintain relevant Insurance License(s) and/or a UAS Remote Pilot Certification within three months of starting the job
