About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the Risk Control Property Specialist discipline
  • Deliver specialized technical solutions for lower-complexity risks
  • Consult onsite or virtually with customers regarding risk exposures and loss controls
  • Support underwriting and claim execution and processes
  • Maintain a consistent field presence, spending approximately 20%–50% of the time with customers
  • Travel to customers, including possible long-distance, overnight, and multi-night trips
  • Build expertise through discipline-specific training, customer surveys, and feedback from experienced team members
  • Assist with and conduct customer risk evaluations
  • Identify exposures, loss controls, and opportunities for improved risk management
  • Share findings with Underwriting to support effective risk pricing
  • Educate customers on risk management and influence adoption of recommended changes
  • Support development of field consultant training programs through research on emerging issues and claim-data loss trends
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, or a science discipline
  • Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering discipline
  • Three or more years of experience within the engineering or fire protection industry
  • Verbal and written communication skills to simplify complex technical information and deliver recommendations
  • Interpersonal and influencing skills to build credibility and encourage action on recommendations
  • Organizational and time management skills to manage priorities, plan work, and meet expectations
  • Valid driver's license
