About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support customers and third-party claimants through the vehicle damage claims process
  • Manage auto physical damage claims from first notice of loss through resolution and settlement
  • Handle low to moderate complexity claims, including total loss evaluations and vehicle repair oversight
  • Evaluate policy terms, conditions, exclusions, coverage, liability, and damage
  • Negotiate equitable settlements within authority
  • Coordinate with appraisal teams and repair facilities
  • Conduct investigations and gather relevant facts
  • Document findings and maintain accurate claim activity records in claim management systems
  • Determine settlement amounts based on appraisal estimates
  • Write denial letters, Reservation of Rights, and other correspondence when appropriate
  • Communicate professionally with customers, representatives, and internal stakeholders
  • Adapt to technology implementations, system upgrades, and AI-focused digital tool rollouts
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • One year auto claim handling experience or comparable claim experience, or successful completion of Travelers Auto Claim Representative training program
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Two years of auto claim handling experience
  • Active adjuster license, where applicable
  • Acquire and maintain relevant Insurance License(s) within three months of starting the job
  • Proficient in claims management systems
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office and enterprise technology systems and platforms
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make effective decisions
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to manage stress and maintain professionalism under pressure
  • Basic understanding of insurance principles, terminology, state insurance regulations, and claim handling requirements
  • Ability to quickly learn from experience and apply it to new situations
