About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Analyze financial information and assess risk of contractors and related companies
- Underwrite and assess risk for contract surety bonds and bonding facilities
- Analyze and interpret financial statements and forecast future performance
- Understand contractors' operations, experience and business plans
- Complete formal annual account reviews
- Underwrite bond requests and create or propose solutions to underwriting challenges
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues across the organization
- Develop relationships with assigned brokers and clients
- Demonstrate superior customer service standards
- Work with brokers to ensure understanding of Travelers' objectives
- Participate in industry functions to increase marketplace visibility, network with stakeholders and increase industry knowledge
- Contribute to planned financial results through service, quality underwriting and responsiveness to new business submissions
- Interact and collaborate with internal and external associates
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree with a business discipline specialization in finance, accounting or economics
- Enrollment in the Associateship in Canadian Surety Bonding (ACSB) program offered through the Surety Association of Canada and the University of Toronto
- Ability to analyze financial information and assess contractor and related-company risk
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial statements and forecast future performance
- Understanding of contractor operations, experience and business plans
- Ability to underwrite contract surety bonds and bonding facilities
- Ability to establish and maintain relationships with brokers, clients and internal stakeholders
- Ability to provide superior customer service
- Ability to work tactically with brokers and understand Travelers' objectives
