About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage growth and profitability for assigned states, product, or line of business
  • Analyze complex business problems and propose fact-based solutions using internal and external trends
  • Lead and guide data analysis of business results, product refreshes, and performance expectations
  • Identify root causes of business results
  • Develop and influence recommendations to drive growth and profitability across short- and long-term strategies
  • Consider local regulatory nuances and broader marketplace dynamics
  • Present and influence recommendations with key leadership stakeholders, including product/pricing changes and new product builds
  • Act as a senior resource in strategic initiatives supporting broader organizational goals

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management/Administration, Mathematics, Finance, Actuarial Science, Economics, or another analytics-related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least 5 years’ experience working in a mathematical, analytical, or data-related role, preferably in the financial services industry
  • At least 3 years of experience in data analytics or similar work experience
  • Experience developing techniques and procedures used to forecast insurance financials
  • Deep understanding of Travelers' business strategy and plan objectives
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with and influence management
  • Excellent analytical skills, including evaluating data and systems, identifying deficiencies and opportunities, recommending changes, and translating findings into business impacts
  • Knowledge of pricing and actuarial techniques
  • Understanding of actuarial concepts such as loss development and trending
  • Understanding of insurance product and process workflow and terminology and their impact on profit and loss
