About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage and develop a complex group of Travelers agency assignments and territories as a Subject Matter Expert
- Optimize growth within new business, retention, and profitability goals
- Act as a brand ambassador to sell the Travelers value proposition to distribution partners
- Lead and develop a team of Sales Executives
- Select, train, coach, and develop Sales Executives to achieve sales targets
- Develop and implement advanced sales strategies for profitable growth
- Own assigned territory, including business development and territorial performance planning
- Conduct agency diagnostics and identify strategic growth opportunities
- Facilitate agency appointments and build relationships through in-person and virtual office visits
- Prospect, onboard, and set performance goals for new agencies
- Pre-qualify accounts as needed
- Influence agency partners through communication and negotiation
- Collaborate with Product, Underwriting, Operations, and account teams
- Cross-sell Travelers products and identify book transfer opportunities
- Monitor competitor products, local market trends, and state regulatory impacts
- Facilitate workshops and lead point-of-sale presentations
- Participate in or lead team, cross-team, and cross-business projects
- Use Travelers systems, platforms, data, and analytics to guide sales decisions and measure performance
- Leverage AI technologies to optimize processes, enhance decision-making, and drive innovation
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in sales, marketing, business or related field
- Five or more years of insurance sales or related experience in managing a book of business, driving significant sales growth, achieving sales targets, conducting agency diagnostics, and utilizing digital sales tools
- Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), or willingness to pursue
- Experience coaching, training, and mentoring others
- Extensive knowledge of Travelers products and the general Property & Casualty marketplace
- Extensive influencing and negotiation skills
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to set clear goals and priorities and energize others to meet them
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Four years of sales experience within the insurance industry
- Must live in the territory managed
- Ability to travel up to 75% of the time
