About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage, inspect, evaluate, negotiate, and settle first-party property claims accurately and promptly
- Perform in-person inspections at customers’ residences and properties to assess damages
- Review, investigate, and document first-party property claims under limited supervision
- Handle personal insurance claims with limited supervision and higher authority; begin handling business insurance claims with direct supervision
- Gather information from policyholders, claimants, and third-party vendors
- Investigate and evaluate relevant facts and documents, including leases, contracts, and by-laws
- Determine and apply coverage for property damages under policy terms
- Establish accurate scopes of building and contents losses for written or computer-assisted estimates
- Communicate professionally with customers, representatives, vendors, and internal stakeholders
- Negotiate with contractors and insureds’ representatives with guidance
- Maintain accurate claim activity records in claim management systems
- Adapt to technology implementations, system upgrades, and AI-related digital tool rollouts
- Inspect dwellings and structures, including roofs, attics, crawl spaces, and confined areas
- Travel extensively, including overnight stays, to support customers across multiple locations
- Perform other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED required
- One year of property or comparable claim related experience or successful completion of required Travelers Claim Representative training program
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Two years of property claim experience
- Active adjuster license, where applicable
- Proficiency in claims management and estimating software
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office and enterprise technology systems and platforms
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and make effective decisions
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Demonstrated conflict resolution skills
- Ability to manage stress and maintain composure and professionalism under pressure
- Basic understanding of insurance principles, terminology, state insurance regulations, and claim handling requirements
- Ability to quickly learn from experience and apply it to new situations
- Acquire and maintain relevant insurance license(s) and/or UAS Remote Pilot Certification within three months of starting the job
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to assess and inspect roofs, attics, crawl spaces, and other confined areas
- Ability to carry, set up, and climb ladders weighing approximately 38–49 pounds
- Must reside in or be willing to relocate at own expense to the assigned territory
- Ability to travel extensively, including overnight stays, across multiple locations
