About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop, influence and implement advanced sales strategies to expand and manage a high-value portfolio
  • Own the assigned territory, including business development, annual planning and territorial performance management
  • Conduct comprehensive agency diagnostics and identify strategic growth opportunities
  • Facilitate agency appointments and build long-term relationships through in-person and virtual office visits
  • Prospect, onboard and set performance goals for new agencies while providing training and support
  • Pre-qualify accounts as needed
  • Influence agency partners through communication and negotiation
  • Collaborate with Product, Underwriting and Operations teams
  • Cross-sell Travelers products and identify book transfer opportunities
  • Monitor competitor products, capabilities, local market trends and state regulatory impacts
  • Facilitate workshops and lead point-of-sale presentations
  • Participate in or lead team, cross-team and cross-business projects
  • Train, coach and mentor Associate Sales Executives and Sales Executives, or manage staff on a limited basis
  • Use data and analytics to guide sales decisions, measure performance and identify product opportunities
  • Use Travelers systems and platforms to support the sales process
  • Leverage AI technologies to optimize processes, improve decision-making and drive innovation
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in sales, marketing, business or related field
  • Five or more years of insurance sales or related experience in managing a book of business, driving significant sales growth, achieving sales targets, conducting agency diagnostics and utilizing digital sales tools
  • Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) or willingness to pursue
  • Extensive knowledge of Travelers products and general Property & Casualty marketplace
  • Extensive influencing and negotiation skills
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to define goals and priorities and meet goals in a timely manner
  • Exceptional organizational skills to manage complex tasks and priorities and meet sales goals and deadlines
  • Demonstrated coaching, training and mentoring skills
  • Four years of sales experience within the insurance industry
  • Must live in the territory managed
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time
