About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform complex analysis, advanced design and configuration, and develop Guidewire BillingCenter functionality for high-impact initiatives
- Configure, troubleshoot, and support multiple BillingCenter functional areas
- Lead design and implementation of solutions for billing and payments problems
- Serve as Technical Lead on key initiatives, independently delivering work and leading team members
- Participate in a large 2027 transformation program migrating from an in-house mainframe billing platform to Guidewire BillingCenter
- Lead investigation, diagnosis, and resolution of critical problems, defects, and incidents in BillingCenter and related integrations
- Consult with users and partners to define functional and technical specifications
- Act as a technology advocate for Guidewire capabilities, cloud technologies, and applicable AI solutions
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship on BillingCenter and modern engineering practices
- Apply Guidewire events, batch processing, integration patterns, and cloud trends to deliver solutions
- Monitor system health and alerting, troubleshoot issues, and support production readiness
- Collaborate with business and technical teams to clarify requirements and deliver reliable solutions
- Continuously expand technical knowledge of Guidewire, AWS, and Agile delivery practices
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of hands-on programming/development experience
- 5+ years of experience with Guidewire BillingCenter, including configuration and integration
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, related STEM field, or equivalent in education and/or work experience
- 6 additional years of software engineering experience
- Deep experience with Guidewire BillingCenter configuration, integrations, and extension
- Hands-on experience developing and supporting Guidewire BillingCenter integrations
- Experience with commission calculation configuration and troubleshooting, invoice logic and document mapping, and payment management
- Strong knowledge of Guidewire events and batch processing
- Experience acting as a Technical Lead on complex initiatives, ideally in billing, payments, or policy administration domains
- Experience in Agile environments such as Scrum/Kanban and modern DevOps practices including CI/CD and automated testing
- Experience with AWS or another major cloud provider
- Experience with Java and/or GOSU for Guidewire development
- Exposure to or hands-on experience with AI/ML capabilities applied to billing or financial operations
- Prior experience with or understanding of mainframe-based systems, especially modernization or migration to Guidewire
- Ability to determine software design strategy and methodology for Guidewire BillingCenter efforts
- Ability to use automated tests, analysis, and feedback loops to ensure quality and production readiness
- Ability to monitor BillingCenter components and adjacent systems
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to use data, experimentation, and proofs of concept to solve complex billing and integration challenges
- Ability to make sound decisions involving complex factors and broad business/technical implications
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to translate Guidewire and cloud concepts for business partners
- Ability to document initiatives clearly and concisely
- Ability to collaborate with engineers, product owners, architects, and business stakeholders
