About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Handle complex toxic tort, latent injury, sexual misconduct and/or environmental claims with significant financial exposures
- Manage moderate to large exposure claims involving complex liability and coverage issues
- Develop strategies to resolve claims efficiently and effectively while meeting protocols and delivering customer service
- Research policies issued by multiple legacy companies and analyze coverage
- Apply relevant legal concepts across applicable jurisdictions
- Prepare coverage recommendations and communicate coverage positions to policyholders or representatives
- Investigate claim facts to determine liability, evaluate damages, and recommend appropriate action
- Apply knowledge of emerging litigation trends
- Develop and execute strategic file management plans
- Research and recommend counsel, litigation and resolution strategies, experts, settlement terms, and release terms
- Manage loss adjustment expenses
- Attend meetings with counsel, settlement conferences, mediations, and trials
- Manage account relationships and coordinate actions on assigned accounts
- Estimate financial exposures and develop budgets and financial analyses
- Maintain defense and indemnity estimates
- Maintain organized claim files and proficiency with SRG claim systems and databases
- Ensure data accuracy and efficiently manage file inventory
- Participate in training, mentoring, and interviewing as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree listed under Education & Work Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 2 years experience in claim handling, legal, insurance, coverage advice or environmental fields
- 3+ years of experience in claim handling, legal, insurance or coverage advice or environmental fields listed under Education & Work Experience
- Insurance License(s) may be required and generally must be obtained within three months of starting the job
