About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Safely and efficiently operate and maintain a 2x1 combined-cycle power generation facility using Siemens 501F combustion turbines, a Siemens KN steam turbine, and Siemens T3000 controls
- Serve as the Continuous Emissions Monitoring system expert, including CGAs, linearities, and fuel-gas calibrations
- Perform electrical maintenance and resolve electrical faults in breakers and controllers
- Troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate high-voltage breakers, transformers, pumps, motors, transmitters, alarm systems, monitoring equipment, communication systems, switches, valves, and related equipment
- Identify and resolve equipment issues and write work orders documenting required work
- Prepare equipment for service after repairs
- Maintain and revise electrical and controls P&IDs and panel schedules
- Research and coordinate parts procurement with vendors and site administrative staff
- Oversee electrical contractors during day-to-day and outage work
- Work with Siemens T3000 distributed control systems
- Complete failure reporting and document labor time and materials in Maximo
- Develop understanding of plant processes and take appropriate action when issues are discovered
- Gain basic operational knowledge of plant systems and operate equipment within specifications
- Respond to unit trips, abnormal operating conditions, callouts, emergent situations, and outages
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience with industrial electrical equipment troubleshooting and maintenance
- 4-6 years' experience in an industrial environment required
- Knowledge of procedures for cleaning DC and AC electrical motors, making electrical connections on DC and single- and three-phase AC circuits, and performing PM inspections
- General knowledge of station high-voltage switching and relaying equipment
- Experience with general electrical and mechanical equipment repair, replacement, station mechanical operations, and minor modification projects
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Must be a successful candidate on the Plant Operator Selection System/Power Plant Operations and Maintenance (POSS/MASS) program
- Ability to visually read and respond to computer-generated data, instrumentation, gauges, readouts, and color variations
- Ability to read and comprehend mechanical and electrical drawings, specifically P&IDs
- Manual dexterity to operate keyboards, push buttons, dials, valves, and mechanically actuated devices
- Familiarity with lockout/tagout and personal protective equipment procedures
- Must pass respiratory physical and wear required safety equipment
- Ability to walk, bend, stoop, kneel, push, pull, climb ladders, work in extreme heat or cold, lift up to 50 pounds, work at extreme heights, and work in confined spaces
- Must attend on-site and off-site training
- Must have a valid driver's license and be able to operate station vehicles and heavy equipment
- Desired: experience with 480 V, 4160 V, 18 KV, and 230 KV electrical equipment; instrumentation and controls; combined-cycle plants; Siemens 501F and KN turbines; rigging, signaling, crane/hoist operations; technical shop test equipment; electric plant water treatment systems; powerhouse mechanical equipment; microprocessor-based systems; databases, spreadsheets, and word processing programs
- Two-year Electrical/Mechanical Technology Degree is desired
