About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support office operations independently and collaboratively to provide efficient, cost-effective, quality patient care
  • Promote a healthy work environment
  • Schedule appointments on provider schedules
  • Review schedules using provider preference lists and update appropriately
  • Communicate with management regarding goals, needs, and concerns
  • Complete patient pre-registration
  • Review revenue reports to ensure charges are billed appropriately
  • Collect copays and balances due
  • Check patients in and out for appointments
  • Handle incoming and outgoing phone calls
  • Scan and fax documentation
  • Make confirmation phone calls
  • Maintain patient, family, employee, and service-area confidentiality
  • Greet visitors and manage expectations regarding service
  • Answer and route telephone calls and deliver messages
  • Receive and distribute messages, packages, and supplies
  • Implement day-to-day operations of the service environment
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment
  • Report to the Manager or Coordinator

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Business school or formal secretarial training is a plus
  • One to two years’ experience preferred
  • Knowledge of PCs and appropriate software
  • Knowledge of office equipment and supplies
  • Understanding of service-related terminology
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Customer service orientation
  • Ability to use multi-line telephones, PC terminals, telephones, copier, e-mail system, fax machine, and typewriter
  • Participates in orientation and continuing education
  • Ability to perform light work involving standing, walking, sitting, and lifting
