About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide skilled occupational therapy services to patients in their homes according to physician orders and individualized plans of care
- Perform patient evaluations and reassessments
- Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans
- Provide therapeutic interventions to improve safety, function, and independence
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on therapy programs and adaptive techniques
- Assess home environments and recommend modifications and adaptive equipment
- Coordinate care with physicians and interdisciplinary team members
- Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants and delegate appropriate patient care activities
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and case conferences
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, ethical, and organizational standards
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate of an occupational therapy curriculum accredited jointly by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association
- Eligible for the National Registration Examination of the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
- Registration by the NBCOT and registration to practice as an Occupational Therapist in the state of practice if the state has registration practices
- CPR Certification Required
- Must be able to function in an environment with minimal direct supervision
- Must accept responsibility for maintaining clinical practice skills and adhering to agency policies and procedures
- Minimum of one year of experience or a preceptor for a minimum of 6–8 weeks
- Home healthcare experience preferred
- Current driver's license and reliable transportation to and from work site
- Ability to demonstrate commitment to the mission, Organizational Code of Ethics, and Compliance Program
- Ability to lift 35 pounds
- Must be able to travel to various worksites or work locations as required
