About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Utilize the nursing process to diagnose and treat human responses to actual or potential problems
- Bring patients to exam rooms, take vital signs, and document in the electronic medical record
- Review and update medication lists in the EMR
- Complete referrals and track patient compliance
- Review prescriptions and route them to providers for review and submission
- Obtain patient consent for procedures
- Perform pre-visit planning and review quality metrics
- Retrieve telephonic clinical information from patients
- Monitor provider task lists and complete assigned tasks according to urgency
- Educate patients on medication, testing procedures, and home care techniques
- Label, handle, and document patient specimens
- Follow up with patients regarding test results
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Maintain medical and drug cabinets with nursing colleagues
- Communicate effectively using the electronic medical record
- Perform quality assurance duties
- Provide clinical visit summaries and educational materials
- Participate in daily Patient Care huddles
- Work cooperatively with colleagues to ensure quality patient care
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Local candidates to Albany, NY required, due to onsite meetings
- HS Diploma/equivalent required
- Current unencumbered NYS RN license
- Basic Life Support certification
- 6 months previous RN experience
- Must be able to lift 20 lbs.
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred
