About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform triage in a hybrid family-practice role
- Complete 6–12 weeks of in-office training
- Receive floor nursing training
- Gather intake data and reason for visit; assist with examinations
- Assist physicians with office procedures and provide ordered treatment modalities
- Document in medical records
- Administer medications and vaccinations
- Perform telephone triage
- Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection
- Provide patient and family education and support
- Schedule referrals and specialty appointments
- Assist with prior authorizations
- Ensure quality nursing care in accordance with the New York Nurse Practice Act, national standards, and clinical service standards
- Plan, direct, and supervise patient care using the Nursing Process
- Provide direct care to patients and families
- Collaborate with medical assistants, secretaries, LPNs, physicians, medical staff, patients, visitors, and regulatory and professional agencies
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
- Current licensure, or eligibility for licensure, in the State of New York
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Participation in orientation and continuing education
- Ability to lift 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, squat and reach
- Ability to work in a clinical setting with Exposure Class I
- Knowledge and skills related to specific areas of nursing expertise
