About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Fill short- and long-term assignments throughout Trinity Health's health system
Perform therapeutic respiratory procedures, including advanced procedures such as operating balloon pumps, working in NICU, and pulmonary function testing (PFT)
Provide professional leadership in patient care delivery
Apply AIDET principles and "Managing Up" communication during patient interactions
Use "Key Words at Key Times" to support patients, families, visitors, and internal customers
Serve as a respiratory care consultant, resource person, and role model in health system committees or work groups
Maintain confidentiality and safe respiratory therapy practices
Perform respiratory therapist duties according to AARC guidelines and maintain competencies
Respond to cardiopulmonary arrests and emergencies; participate in patient rounds
Provide treatments according to physician orders and approved medical protocols
Inspect equipment, coordinate repairs, and suggest therapy changes based on clinical assessments
Provide high-quality, age-specific, developmental, and culturally appropriate patient care
Participate in educational programs and equipment/procedure implementations
Facilitate instruction and feedback for staff or students during clinical training
Complete annual HealthStream requirements and maintain a professional education activity log
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

Willingness to float throughout the hospital and/or throughout multiple hospital locations
Cannot hold a concurrent position at a Trinity Health facility
Ability to complete the orientation and training
2 years of current experience working in an acute setting (hospital not nursing home or rehab)
Must be RT licensed
Graduate of a two year advanced practitioner-accredited Respiratory Therapist program; registry eligible
Maintain current RRT credential
Must hold valid BLS and ACLS certifications
Demonstrates annual unit/area competencies
Maintains confidentiality of information according to HIPPA guidelines
Completes Health Stream yearly on a timely basis per Trinity Health standards
