About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist in developing and maintaining accurate financial information for assigned general ledger areas
- Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare financial statements for the Health Ministry and Market Record to Report shared services area
- Apply healthcare financial operations knowledge, US GAAP, regulatory reporting requirements, and IRS regulations
- Maintain relationships with leaders from Health Ministry, Service Area, Trinity Health, and related entities
- Assist with internal and external audits, periodic financial-record reviews, financial statements, Federal Awards audit requirements, and other audit requirements
- Implement agreed-upon audit recommendations for assigned areas
- Assist with annual 990 and other tax returns and compile information for community benefit reporting
- Assist with sales and use tax, local personal property tax, escheatment, government survey, and related reporting
- Complete inter-company billing, cash transfers, and inter-company balance reconciliations
- Identify process optimization opportunities and implement best practices to improve accounting workflows
- Complete special projects, financial analysis, and research
- Prepare monthly accounting entries and supporting documentation for the PeopleSoft general ledger system
- Reconcile, analyze, and adjust general ledger accounts
- Maintain accurate workpaper reconciliation support and meet deadlines
- Investigate issues and potential solutions under manager advisement
- Assist with year-end financial reporting packages and audit workpapers
- Research and compile information for operational projects and initiatives
- Analyze data, prepare summaries and graphical trend presentations, recommend solutions, and provide financial analytics supporting leadership decisions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance
- Equivalent combination of education and/or experience, such as a long tenure in health care accounting and/or HFMA certifications accepted in lieu of degree requirement
- Minimum three (3) to five (5) years experience
- Experience working with US GAAP
- Experience conducting financial analysis, including researching and analyzing accounting issues
- CPA preferred
- Healthcare exposure preferred
- Fixed Assets exposure preferred
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and multi-task in a diverse, fast-paced environment
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to meet deadlines and respond to information requests
