About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist in developing and maintaining accurate financial information for assigned general ledger areas.
  • Perform general ledger account analysis, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation for the Health Ministry and Market Record to Report shared services area.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with leaders from HM, Service Area, Trinity Health, and related entities; respond to information requests.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, periodic financial record reviews, financial statements, Federal Awards audit requirements, and other audit requirements.
  • Implement agreed-upon audit recommendations for assigned areas.
  • Assist with annual 990 and other tax returns, community benefit reporting, sales and use tax reporting, local personal property tax reporting, unclaimed property reporting, government surveys, and related reporting.
  • Complete inter-company billing, cash transfers, and reconciliation of inter-company balances.
  • Identify process optimization opportunities, implement best practices, and streamline workflows.
  • Complete special projects, financial analysis, and research.
  • Prepare monthly accounting entries and supporting documentation for the PeopleSoft general ledger system.
  • Reconcile, analyze, and adjust general ledger accounts; maintain supporting workpaper reconciliations.
  • Assist with year-end financial reporting packages and audit workpapers.
  • Research and compile information for operational projects; analyze data, prepare summaries and graphical presentations, recommend solutions, and provide financial analytics.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance.
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience, such as a long tenure in health care accounting and/or HFMA certifications accepted in lieu of degree requirement.
  • Minimum three (3) to five (5) years experience.
  • Experience working with US GAAP and conducting financial analysis including experience in researching and analyzing accounting issues.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Healthcare exposure preferred.
  • Fixed Assets exposure preferred.
  • Must be able to organize, prioritize, and multi-task in a diverse, fast paced environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Understanding of external, regulatory, payor and other forces impacting health care financial operations, IRS regulations, and other regulatory reporting requirements.
