About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide perioperative patient care during the intraoperative phase
- Perform both scrub and circulating roles
- Prepare for surgical cases efficiently while anticipating patient, surgeon, anesthesia, and OR team needs
- Maintain a safe patient and staff environment through aseptic technique and control of physical and psychological factors
- Collect and analyze data and assess patients to develop nursing diagnoses
- Communicate with patients, staff, physicians, and families
- Maintain knowledge of equipment setup and function
- Initiate and direct room cleanup and turnover as appropriate
- Attend department meetings and in-services
Requirements
What you’ll need- Registered Nurse (RN) qualification/licensure is required for the role
- Ability to provide perioperative patient care in intraoperative scrub and circulating roles
- Ability to scrub and circulate on cases independently with minimal direction
- Ability to prepare efficiently for surgical cases and anticipate the needs of the patient, surgeon, anesthesia, and OR team
- Knowledge of aseptic technique and patient/staff safety standards
- Ability to collect and analyze data and assess patients in developing nursing diagnoses
- Effective communication with patients, staff, physicians, and families
- Knowledge of equipment setup and function
- Ability to work call, weekends, nights, and holidays as scheduled
- Ability to serve neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations
