About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Maintain continuous visual alertness without distraction while monitoring 12-16 active patients
Remain alert to patients and anticipate, recognize, and address harmful behaviors
Monitor patient behaviors and movements via closed-circuit camera with pan/tilt/zoom capabilities
Verbally redirect patients over a digital two-way audio device
Immediately alert nursing staff as necessary
Communicate with patients, staff, and colleagues in a calm, respectful, empathetic, and professional tone
Meet nursing staff expectations to keep patients safe
Provide detailed shift-to-shift reports on patient activity to colleagues and nursing staff

Requirements

What you’ll need

Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent required
Mental capacity to verbally interact with 12-16 active patients in various levels of distress while maintaining a calm, focused demeanor
Ability to work 12-hour shifts in a 24/7 healthcare environment
Ability to work weekends and holidays, as required
Ability to orally and in writing report on patient activity, as needed
Basic computer skills required; on-the-job learning provided
Experience working in healthcare preferred, but not required
