About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Maintain continuous visual alertness while monitoring 12-16 active patients
  • Monitor patient behaviors and movements via closed-circuit camera with pan/tilt/zoom capabilities
  • Verbally redirect patients using a digital two-way audio device
  • Immediately alert nursing staff when necessary
  • Maintain a calm, respectful, empathetic, and professional tone when communicating with patients, staff, and colleagues
  • Meet nursing staff expectations to keep patients safe
  • Provide detailed shift-to-shift reports on patient activity to colleagues and nursing staff

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent required
  • Mental capacity to verbally interact with 12-16 active patients in various levels of distress while maintaining a calm, focused demeanor
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts in a 24/7 healthcare environment
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays, as required
  • Ability to orally and in writing report on patient activity, as needed
  • Basic computer skills required; on-the-job learning provided
  • Experience working in healthcare preferred, but not required
