About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist nursing staff in the continuous monitoring of patients requiring close observation via remote camera monitoring
- Work cooperatively with nursing staff and other patient healthcare personnel to maintain a safe environment and ensure patient safety and comfort
- Maintain visual observation of patients at all times and monitor behaviors and movements
- Recognize behaviors that could result in potential harm to patients
- Support the plan of care for patients requiring virtual monitoring
- Verbally redirect patients over a digital two-way audio device
- Immediately summon nursing staff when patients require assistance
- Protect patient comfort, safety, dignity, privacy, and confidentiality
- Communicate courteously, positively, empathetically, and professionally with internal and external customers and colleagues
- Provide shift-to-shift handoff of pertinent information and behaviors to virtual monitoring attendants and nursing staff
- Provide nursing staff with timely information when a patient appears to pose a threat to themselves or others
Requirements
What you’ll need- General knowledge normally acquired by completing a high school diploma or equivalent required
- Capable of continuous monitoring of up to 16 patients at one time
- Ability to communicate verbally, calmly and courteously in stressful situations
- Ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and patient confidentiality
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to pass drug screenings and background checks
- Previous experience working in a healthcare setting preferred
- Must work every other weekend/holiday as scheduled
