About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Create, maintain, and support databases across development, testing, and production environments
  • Analyze, test, implement, and optimize physical database designs
  • Administer Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MariaDB environments
  • Manage database installations, upgrades, patching, migrations, and lifecycle activities
  • Perform database backup and recovery activities
  • Support business continuity, disaster recovery, and high availability initiatives
  • Monitor database performance and identify optimization opportunities
  • Conduct database environment audits and provide capacity planning recommendations
  • Maintain technical documentation and supported patch levels
  • Develop and maintain automation using PowerShell, Shell Scripting, KornShell, T-SQL, and PL/SQL
  • Partner with application support teams, developers, architects, technical managers, and system administrators
  • Drive data governance, data integrity, and data management practices
  • Use ServiceNow to manage operational requests, incidents, and support activities
  • Participate in an on-call rotation approximately every four weeks, providing seven-day coverage
  • Act as a subject matter expert and consultant on database initiatives, projects, and architecture discussions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5-8+ years of hands-on Database Administration experience within enterprise environments
  • Strong Oracle Database Administration experience, including backup and recovery, performance tuning, and business continuity
  • Strong SQL Server Administration experience, including backup and recovery, performance tuning, and business continuity
  • Experience supporting production, development, and testing database environments
  • Expertise in database builds, patching, upgrades, migrations, and maintenance
  • Strong troubleshooting and performance optimization skills
  • Experience with database automation and scripting technologies
  • Experience with ServiceNow or similar ITSM tools
  • Excellent communication, relationship management, and collaboration skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Experience with Oracle 12c, 19c, and 21c, Oracle RAC, Oracle ASM, Oracle Data Guard, and PL/SQL
  • Experience with SQL Server 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2022, SSIS, SSRS, replication, database mirroring, log shipping, Always On Availability Groups, clustering, and T-SQL
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MariaDB
  • Experience with PowerShell, Shell Scripting, and KornShell
  • Bachelor's degree in Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered
  • Oracle Certified Professional certification preferred
  • Microsoft SQL Server certifications preferred
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States
  • English essential
