About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Publish original investigative research on fraud and scams, sanctions evasion, ransomware and cybercrime, terrorist financing, drug and human trafficking, and related financial networks
  • Use Claude, ChatGPT, and agent-based tools to research, analyze data, stress-test methodology, draft, and package findings
  • Lead research from open questions through evidence gathering, analysis, narrative development, and publication
  • Combine blockchain intelligence with sanctions lists, court filings, corporate records, open-source intelligence, and threat intelligence
  • Turn findings into training content for investigators and compliance teams
  • Share emerging threat intelligence with product and intelligence teams
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Communications, intelligence and investigations, product teams, and TRM Academy
  • Manage the research and content workflow day to day and week to week
  • Participate in weekly research reviews and Marketing working sessions
  • Publish first original data-backed research within 30 days
  • Complete a full research, narrative, and distribution cycle within 60 days
  • Run the end-to-end research and content workflow and feed research into TRM Academy training within 90 days

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5 to 8 years combining research or data analysis with published writing
  • At least one high-impact investigation led from evidence-gathering to final piece
  • Strong analytical skills across financial, open-source, court, regulatory, and structured data sources
  • Public portfolio of investigative or research-led work with measurable reach
  • Deep AI fluency across research, analysis, drafting, packaging, and agent-based production workflows
  • Experience in financial crime, sanctions, cybercrime, national security, or crypto is a strong plus
  • Willingness and ability to participate in in-person R&D work weeks 1–2 times per quarter
  • Ability to work in a high-intensity, high-ownership environment
  • Ability to work with changing priorities, ambiguity, frequent communication, and cross-functional collaboration
