About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist with the semi-monthly payroll cycle from timecard collection through final payroll processing and reporting
  • Process payroll using ADP and Deltek Costpoint
  • Review payroll inputs, payroll registers, and exception reports for accuracy and discrepancies
  • Validate hours, overtime, PTO, holiday pay, bonuses, deductions, reimbursements, and other payroll transactions
  • Process payroll adjustments, corrections, retroactive payments, off-cycle payments, and special payroll transactions
  • Reconcile payroll-related accounts and reports between ADP, Costpoint, the general ledger, and other systems
  • Administer timekeeping and timecard procedures and ensure accurate project, contract, cost center, and charge-code allocation
  • Resolve missing, incorrect, or late timecards and monitor timekeeping exceptions
  • Partner with Program Finance, Accounting, Contracts, managers, employees, and HR on payroll and timekeeping issues
  • Establish and maintain employee payroll records in ADP, Costpoint, and related systems
  • Support payroll and timekeeping onboarding, training, employee changes, and self-service guidance
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax requirements
  • Review tax filings, deposits, reports, notices, and employee tax issues
  • Support year-end payroll activities, including W-2s, tax reporting, reconciliations, and employee inquiries
  • Maintain and update payroll policies, procedures, calendars, deadlines, and process documentation
  • Maintain confidential payroll and tax records and ensure appropriate retention and protection
  • Follow internal controls and support internal and external audits and corrective actions
  • Support DCAA, CAS, and government-contracting compliance related to labor charging, timekeeping, and payroll

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • 5+ years of payroll experience, including experience supporting a multi-state payroll environment
  • Experience supporting a semi-monthly payroll process
  • Hands-on experience with ADP and Deltek Costpoint or comparable payroll/ERP systems
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax requirements
  • Experience with timekeeping, timecard review, payroll reconciliations, and payroll controls
  • Strong understanding of payroll accounting and general ledger reconciliation
  • Strong Excel and data-analysis skills
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • High level of confidentiality and integrity when handling employee compensation and personal information
  • Experience working for a government contractor, defense contractor, aerospace company, or other highly regulated organization preferred
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint Time & Expense and Payroll preferred
  • Knowledge of government-contracting timekeeping and labor-charging requirements preferred
  • Experience supporting DCAA, DCMA, or other government audits preferred
  • Experience supporting internal and external audits preferred
  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or FPC certification preferred
  • Experience with multi-state payroll and complex organizational structures preferred
  • Experience with payroll system implementations, upgrades, or integrations preferred
  • Experience improving payroll processes through automation and workflow optimization preferred
  • Successful completion of a comprehensive background check, security investigation, and drug screening
  • Employment is contingent upon required screening completion
