About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Greet guests warmly and promptly
Assist guests with ordering by making suggestions and pairings
Accurately describe menu items
Prepare and serve craft cocktails, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages according to recipes and guest preferences
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of Vermejo’s beverage offerings, including locally sourced spirits and wines
Maintain bar upkeep and cleanliness
Provide full-service restaurant support with a sense of urgency
Present on the floor and attend to guest needs to ensure a high-level service experience
Communicate clearly and effectively with management during service
Follow cleanliness and sanitation procedures, including frequent handwashing
Complete opening and closing bar side-work
Participate in food and beverage education outside regular service
Practice alcohol awareness and use good judgment to comply with New Mexico alcohol laws
Follow all Ted Turner Reserves/Vermejo Reserve policies and procedures
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

Minimum of 2 years of bartending experience
Strong knowledge of mixology, spirits, beer, and wine
Ability to create unique beverages
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills focused on guest service
Documentation establishing identity and employment authorization within three days of hire pursuant to federal law
Comfortable living and working in an isolated mountain environment with limited access to services
Ability to provide or arrange transportation to and from Raton for personal supplies
Ability to lift and/or carry trays and other items up to 50 pounds
Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods and remain on feet for extended periods
Ability to wear slip-resistant shoes or boots
Preferred: high school diploma or GED
Preferred: experience in luxury or high-end hospitality environments
Preferred: certification in bartending or mixology
Preferred: food safety and alcohol service certification, or willingness to obtain
Alert, friendly, self-directed, energetic, motivated, adaptive, creative, and detail-oriented
Ability to work long hours and in wet and/or humid conditions
Ability to perform the listed physical activities, including standing, walking, reaching, bending, kneeling, climbing, lifting, carrying, pushing, talking, and hearing
