About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the Know Your Customer (KYC) engineering team building Twilio’s Compliance Domain
  • Own the people strategy, delivery execution, and stakeholder relationships for a team processing millions of requests daily
  • Own the delivery roadmap for customer-facing compliance services, internal platform APIs, and Ops Tooling
  • Translate long-term technical strategy into executable quarterly plans and measurable outcomes
  • Drive adoption of AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Anthropic Claude, and internal LLMs
  • Set expectations for AI-augmented workflows and measure effects on team velocity
  • Own operational excellence, including system reliability, incident response, on-call health, and security posture
  • Partner with Product Management to deliver seamless, developer-friendly compliance workflows
  • Engage internal engineering teams to gather feedback and improve APIs and Ops Tooling
  • Recruit, develop, and retain an engineering team
  • Build psychological safety, candid feedback, career growth, and inclusive team culture
  • Prioritize external product features, internal platform needs, and Ops Tooling investments
  • Communicate team strategy, progress, and risks to engineering leadership and cross-functional partners
  • Author team plans, post-mortems, and decision documents
  • Manage stakeholder relationships, communicate roadmap plans, negotiate priorities, and surface trade-offs
  • Model integrity and create an environment where engineers can raise concerns and challenge the status quo

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 15+ years of software engineering experience
  • At least 5+ years in engineering management
  • Experience leading a team of 10+ engineers and directly managing individual contributors
  • Strong hands-on background designing and operating highly available, cloud-native distributed systems
  • Ability to engage deeply in architectural reviews and evaluate technical proposals
  • Deep familiarity with AWS ecosystems, including Lambda, EKS, DynamoDB, and Kafka
  • Experience with microservices patterns and infrastructure-as-code practices, including Kubernetes and Terraform
  • Demonstrated experience driving AI tool adoption within an engineering team
  • Proven track record of shipping complex software products on time and at high quality
  • Experience with agile methodologies and data-driven team health and productivity measurement
  • Track record of building diverse, inclusive, high-performing engineering teams
  • Experience with career frameworks, performance management, and growing engineers from mid-level to staff-plus
  • Strong ability to communicate technical strategy, trade-offs, and team plans
  • Proven stakeholder-management experience across groups with competing needs
  • Experience balancing external customer commitments with internal platform obligations
  • Experience owning system reliability for mission-critical services, including incident management, on-call rotations, and SLO-driven improvements
  • Experience leading internal platform or operational tooling teams is desired
  • Experience scaling teams through change is desired
