About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Analyze borrower and guarantor financial statements to evaluate operating performance, repayment capacity, and key credit metrics
- Prepare written credit analyses and supporting documentation for new loan requests, renewals, modifications, and extensions
- Support risk rating assessments and transaction structuring analyses
- Perform underwriting analysis for commercial real estate transactions under senior underwriting guidance
- Gather, organize, and validate financial and credit information for underwriting recommendations
- Manage and monitor an assigned portfolio of commercial real estate relationships
- Assist with quarterly trend analyses, annual reviews, covenant compliance testing, and monitoring activities
- Track borrower financial reporting requirements and maintain portfolio monitoring tools and compliance databases
- Escalate potential credit concerns or exceptions to senior team members
- Complete financial statement spreading and maintain accurate financial reporting systems
- Analyze borrower performance, liquidity, leverage, cash flow, and debt service capacity
- Prepare financial models and reports supporting underwriting and portfolio management
- Research market, industry, and borrower-specific trends affecting credit quality
- Partner with Relationship Managers, Portfolio Managers, Underwriters, Credit Risk Management, and other partners
- Prepare materials for credit approval and portfolio review discussions
- Input, spread, and analyze borrower financial statements
- Prepare Excel-based financial models and underwriting support analyses
- Support credit approval packages and annual review materials
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
- More than one year of experience in a finance/analytical related role
- Background in finance, accounting, economics, commercial banking, or commercial real estate
- Foundational knowledge of financial statement analysis and commercial credit principles
- Ability to analyze financial data and identify key trends and risk indicators
- Effective analytical and technical writing skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working with Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools
- Familiarity with commercial lending systems such as nCino or similar platforms
- Ability to work independently while appropriately escalating issues and seeking guidance
- Interest in commercial real estate finance and credit underwriting
- Must be able to work from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week
- Applicants must be able to comply with U.S. Bank policies and procedures including the Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and related workplace conduct and safety policies
