About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Analyze complex data to identify emerging fraud trends
- Develop, implement, test, and continuously refine fraud rule strategies for new account originations
- Own fraud rule strategies for one or more products using SAS, SQL, Python, and other analytical tools
- Quantify business impacts while balancing fraud mitigation, customer experience, and operational efficiency
- Evaluate emerging fraud trends and assess existing rule performance and efficiency
- Use statistical analysis and performance monitoring to recommend rule thresholds, segmentation, and treatment strategies
- Design and execute strategy tests and champion/challenger initiatives
- Monitor rule performance, detect anomalies, validate thresholds, and identify opportunities to strengthen strategies and processes
- Leverage approved AI, analytics, automation, and visualization tools to accelerate insights and improve fraud detection
- Translate analytical findings into actionable recommendations and communicate strategy updates, rule performance insights, and business impacts
- Collaborate with operations, technology, risk management, and cross-functional teams
- Conduct root-cause analysis and ensure alignment with compliance and governance standards
- Develop sustainable strategies and support rule development across First-Party Fraud and Third-Party Fraud
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience
- Typically more than six years of applicable experience
- Strong background in fraud analytics and rule development
- Strong understanding and experience in SQL, SAS, and Python
- Ability to independently design analytical frameworks, automate complex processes, build predictive models, and translate large-scale data into actionable fraud risk strategies and business recommendations
- Experience supporting fraud strategy development within account origination, onboarding, identity verification, or digital banking environments
- Experience with external fraud and identity providers (Socure, LexisNexis, Sentilink, etc.)
- Experience performing strategy testing, segmentation analysis, or champion/challenger experiments
- Experience working in large datasets to support strategy testing, treatment analysis, and performance evaluation
- Knowledge of Fair and Responsible Banking principles and compliance considerations in strategy development
- Comprehensive knowledge of bank systems and experience with fraud decisioning platforms and rule engines
- Thorough understanding of fraud typologies, including First-Party Fraud, Third-Party Fraud, Synthetic Identity Fraud, and related fraud risks
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to influence cross-functional partners through data-driven recommendations and effective communication
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment, demonstrating strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective decision-making
- Commitment to compliance, internal controls, and ethical use of technology, including responsible use of approved AI tools
- Proficient computer navigation skills, including Microsoft Office and data analysis software
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantitative field; Master’s degree a plus
- Must be able to work from a U.S. Bank location three or more days per week
