About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Originate mortgage loans in an assigned metropolitan territory
  • Take mortgage loan applications
  • Conduct preliminary underwriting reviews
  • Submit loan applications to processing and underwriting for approval
  • Follow up to secure documents required for processing, underwriting, and closing in a timely manner
  • Make and solicit loan sales and conduct sales-related activities away from U.S. Bank locations
  • Travel and drive at least two hours per week

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • National Mortgage Licensing Service (NMLS) registration under the terms of the S.A.F.E. Act of 2008 and Regulation Z and ongoing compliance with all legal or regulatory registration requirements, including maintaining a satisfactory criminal and credit record
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One or more years of mortgage, sales, real estate, or banking experience
  • Ability to travel
  • Basic knowledge of pricing and underwriting requirements of various mortgage insurance companies
  • Working knowledge of underwriting requirements for FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, local bonding programs, and private investors
  • Basic knowledge of local, state and national laws, including zoning ordinances, Truth-in-Lending, RESPA, and energy audit requirements
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to analyze financial information
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Established referral base within assigned market preferred
  • 2+ years of proven success in mortgage loan origination, consistently meeting or exceeding production goals
