About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Originate mortgage loans in an assigned Non-Bank territory
  • Take loan applications
  • Conduct preliminary underwriting reviews
  • Submit loan applications to processing and underwriting for approval
  • Follow up to secure documents required for processing, underwriting, and closing in a timely manner
  • Solicit loan sales and conduct sales-related activities away from U.S. Bank locations
  • Spend at least 50% of work time conducting activities away from U.S. Bank locations
  • Maintain referral relationships and meet or exceed mortgage production goals

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • National Mortgage Licensing Service (NMLS) registration under the terms of the S.A.F.E. Act of 2008 and Regulation Z and ongoing compliance with all legal or regulatory registration requirements
  • Maintain a satisfactory criminal and credit record
  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Two or more years of Mortgage, Sales, or Real Estate experience
  • Self-starter with excellent sales ability and ability to work independently
  • Established referral base within assigned market preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of pricing and underwriting requirements of various mortgage insurance companies
  • Working knowledge of underwriting requirements for FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, local bonding programs, and private investors
  • Familiarity with local, state and national laws, including zoning ordinances, Truth-in-Lending, RESPA, and energy audit requirements
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to analyze financial information
  • 2+ years of proven success in mortgage loan origination, consistently meeting or exceeding production goals
  • Ability to comply with U.S. Bank policies and procedures, including the Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and workplace conduct and safety policies
