About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Supervise day-to-day loan origination activities for a small team of Mortgage Loan Originators
  • Ensure documents required for processing, underwriting, and closing are secured timely from appropriate sources
  • Meet annual loan volume origination goals established by upper management
  • Establish referral source relationships with real estate brokers, builders, and other external sources
  • Participate in local and state mortgage banking, realtor, and builder trade associations
  • Maintain thorough understanding of mortgage industry knowledge and event issues
  • Establish collaborative partnerships within U.S. Bank Home Mortgage and other business lines
  • Promote customer relationship growth and additional product sales
  • Interview and recruit new talent
  • Retain employees through employee development and positive employee engagement
  • Coach, mentor, and develop Mortgage Loan Originators to enhance performance and drive business results

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two or more years of mortgage sales experience
  • National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) registration under the terms of the S.A.F.E. Act of 2008 and Regulation Z
  • Required NMLS registration process includes a criminal background and credit check
  • Demonstrated new business development and relationship management skills
  • Good knowledge of sales and sales strategies
  • Thorough knowledge of mortgage products/services, operations, and current market trends
  • Basic knowledge of pricing and underwriting requirements of various mortgage insurance companies
  • Working knowledge of underwriting requirements for FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, local bonding programs, and private investors
  • Familiarity with local, state and national laws, including zoning ordinances, Truth-in-Lending, RESPA, and energy audit requirements
  • Well-developed customer service/relations skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze financial information
  • Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to meet applicable requirements for performing duties outside their regular place of business
  • 2+ years of proven success in mortgage loan origination, consistently meeting or exceeding production goals
  • Demonstrated experience coaching, mentoring, and developing mortgage loan originators
  • Applicants must comply with U.S. Bank policies and procedures, including the Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and workplace conduct and safety policies
