About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Supervise day-to-day loan origination activities for a small team of Mortgage Loan Originators
- Ensure documents required for processing, underwriting, and closing are secured promptly from appropriate sources
- Meet annual loan volume origination goals established by upper management
- Establish referral-source relationships with real estate brokers, builders, and other external sources
- Participate in local and state mortgage banking, realtor, and builder trade associations
- Maintain thorough knowledge of mortgage industry developments and event issues
- Establish collaborative partnerships within U.S. Bank Home Mortgage and other business lines to grow customer relationships and additional product sales
- Interview and recruit new talent
- Retain employees through employee development and positive employee engagement
- Coach, mentor, and develop mortgage loan originators to improve performance and business results
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two or more years of mortgage sales experience
- 2+ years of proven success in mortgage loan origination, consistently meeting or exceeding production goals
- Demonstrated experience coaching, mentoring, and developing mortgage loan originators
- Demonstrated new business development and relationship management skills
- Good knowledge of sales and sales strategies
- Thorough knowledge of mortgage products/services, operations, and current market trends
- Basic knowledge of pricing and underwriting requirements of various mortgage insurance companies
- Working knowledge of underwriting requirements for FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, local bonding programs, and private investors
- Familiarity with local, state and national laws, including zoning ordinances, Truth-in-Lending, RESPA, and energy audit requirements
- Well-developed customer service/relations skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze financial information
- Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Must be able to meet applicable requirements for performing duties outside their regular place of business
- Must complete and maintain National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) registration under the S.A.F.E. Act of 2008 and Regulation Z
- Subject to criminal background and credit checks
- Must comply with U.S. Bank policies, Code of Ethics and Business Conduct, and workplace conduct and safety policies
