About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Partner with Enterprise Financial Crimes Compliance (EFCC) and Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) team members to understand transaction monitoring applications, approaches, and processes
- Support, own, and enhance existing AML transaction monitoring models
- Drive the full model-development lifecycle from data exploration through pilot and production-level models
- Create model development documentation according to U.S. Bank Model Risk Governance standards
- Collaborate with Model Risk Validation to address model concerns throughout the program lifecycle
- Conduct ongoing model monitoring with another FIU team, including research and analysis based on performance metrics and Below the Line testing
- Defend modeling approaches, methodologies, and design decisions to internal and external examiners
- Communicate complex concepts to audiences at different levels
- Represent the FIU team to EFCC senior leadership, Model Risk Management, internal audit, quality assurance, business partners, and regulators
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field, and 10 or more years of relevant experience; OR MA/MS in a quantitative field, and six or more years of related experience; OR PhD in a quantitative field, and five or more years of related experience
- Extensive knowledge of regression techniques, parametric and non-parametric algorithms, time series techniques, statistical models, and model validation methodologies using SAS, Python, or similar packages
- Advanced data compilation, programming skills, and qualitative analysis skills
- Thorough knowledge of quantitative and qualitative risk factors, industry risks, competition risks, and risk management approaches
- Thorough knowledge of applicable regulatory rules, guidance, or supervisory letters
- In-depth knowledge of bank products and services
- Demonstrated independence, teamwork, and leadership skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, negotiation, and project management skills
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Must work from a U.S. Bank location three or more days per week
- Position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
- Ability to comply with U.S. Bank policies and procedures, including the Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and related workplace conduct and safety policies
