About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Prospect for new small business clients and deepen existing relationships to drive year-over-year revenue growth, loan production, deposits, and broader relationship value
  • Conduct discovery conversations to understand clients’ businesses, goals, financial needs, credit profiles, and growth opportunities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for small business clients
  • Recommend solutions across loans, deposits, cash management, and other core banking products
  • Design and structure financial solutions aligned with client objectives, credit standards, portfolio quality expectations, and responsible banking practices
  • Manage portfolio performance and credit quality by monitoring market trends, identifying risk indicators, and applying underwriting judgment
  • Partner with underwriting, portfolio management, and internal teams to support reporting, portfolio management, and client outcomes
  • Address client concerns and coordinate across business lines and specialists to deliver integrated solutions
  • Build community relationships, engage with local organizations, and identify business development opportunities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Expert-level consultative selling, financial analysis, and relationship management skills
  • Advanced business acumen, underwriting expertise, and product knowledge
  • Strong understanding of banking operations, sales, new business development, customer service and relations, and community relations
  • Professionalism and strong working knowledge of applicable lending policies, credit structures, products, services, and regulatory requirements
  • Typically a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Three to four years of experience in relationship banking
  • National Mortgage Licensing Service (NMLS) registration under the terms of the S.A.F.E. Act of 2008 and Regulation Z
  • Ongoing compliance with legal and regulatory registration requirements, including maintaining a satisfactory criminal and credit record
  • Compliance with the U.S. Bank Code of Ethics, Anti-Money Laundering, Bank Secrecy Act, information security, and suspicious activity reporting requirements
  • Participation in required corporate and business line training
  • Ability to comply with U.S. Bank policies and procedures, including the Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and related workplace conduct and safety policies
  • Ability to conduct outside prospecting and sales activities in the assigned territory 50–70% of the time
