About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers responsible for Hogan-based core banking applications
- Drive application development, enhancement, integration, and production support initiatives across the Hogan ecosystem
- Partner with business leaders, product owners, and technology stakeholders to translate banking requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Establish engineering best practices, development standards, operational processes, and quality controls
- Oversee application stability, incident management, problem resolution, and continuous service improvement
- Lead modernization efforts involving architecture, automation, operational efficiency, and maintainability
- Collaborate with enterprise architecture, infrastructure, security, and vendor teams
- Manage project delivery, resource planning, budgeting, risk management, and stakeholder communications
- Foster a culture of accountability and innovation
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
- Six to eight years of relevant technical experience
- Five or more years of leading a software engineering team
- Strong expertise supporting and leading technology teams within a Hogan core banking environment
- Deep understanding of core banking systems, banking operations, customer servicing, deposits, lending, payments, and financial services technology
- Experience with mainframe technologies including COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, and IBM z/OS environments
- Proven success leading engineering teams responsible for large-scale, highly available, mission-critical applications
- Experience delivering application modernization, integration, and platform transformation initiatives within regulated environments
- Strong knowledge of Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, automation, application lifecycle management, and software engineering best practices
- Ability to build strong partnerships with business stakeholders, architects, operations teams, and executive leadership
- Excellent leadership, communication, coaching, strategic planning, and talent development skills
- Ability to work from a U.S. Bank location three or more days per week
- Ability to comply with U.S. Bank policies and procedures, including the Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and related workplace conduct and safety policies
- Must comply with applicable employment eligibility verification requirements
