About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Review and register all incoming claims online using the Group Administration claim system.
- Request additional information for incomplete claim forms and forward claims exceeding dollar limits or assigned by benefit type to the Life Claims Specialist.
- Research and correct missing or erroneous information on 1099s, B-Notices, and Paid and Pending reports; update systems.
- Assist the Life Claims Specialist by filing source documents.
- Handle internal and external telephone inquiries regarding claim status and claims handled by this position.
- Review and log incoming mail; prepare and maintain file correspondence.
- Process Group Life claims, including Life, Accidental Death, Dismemberment, Waivers, and Survivor Income Claims, using the automated claims system.
- Verify eligibility using source documents and review policy provisions.
- Initiate written and telephone inquiries to clients.
- Enter final claim benefit payment or denial determinations into the system.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Eighteen months’ administrative experience, preferably in an insurance environment.
- Familiarity with contract language and interpretation preferred.
- Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills.
- Must successfully demonstrate the ability to meet or exceed productivity and error ratio standards.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- The role is based in the Bethesda, MD office.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States; the organization participates in E-Verify.
