About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct preliminary evaluations of allegations involving irregularities, misconduct, fraud, unsatisfactory conduct, harassment and abuse of authority
- Determine whether allegations violate organizational rules, regulations, policies and/or criminal law
- Document allegations and prepare draft reports with recommendations on whether to proceed with a full investigation, refer or close a case
- Conduct full investigations upon authorization of the Director of IOS
- Collaborate with investigation personnel on complex investigations
- Prepare investigation work plans, including methodologies and purposes for action
- Assist in preparing investigation plans and present them to the Director of IOS or delegate
- Gather, review and analyze information for relevance and reliability
- Conduct interviews and prepare interview records
- Perform investigative research activities as required
- Document all work for review by the Director of IOS or delegate
- Present investigative facts, circumstances and conclusions clearly, concisely and logically
- Propose recommendations and prepare draft reports supporting disciplinary or remedial action
- Finalize reports and follow up on recommendation implementation
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master's degree in law, audit or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in conducting administrative, criminal or forensic investigations in international organizations or public/private sector
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and act on a personal plan
- Sound knowledge of legal principles applicable to investigative activities
- Ability to identify key investigation issues and collect, synthesise and analyse complex information and technical materials, including data
- Strong coordination and analytical skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a diverse cultural environment
- Proven ability to draft investigative reports on complex topics with well-formulated conclusions in both English and French
- Demonstrated ability to conduct sensitive interviews considering due process and duty of care
- Ability to prepare interview transcripts in both English and French
- Excellent knowledge of English
- Good level of French
