About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the planning and delivery of integrated corporate communications activities supporting business priorities.
  • Shape narratives and messaging that communicate Unilabs' strategy, priorities and achievements to stakeholder groups.
  • Showcase the impact of Unilabs' people, expertise, innovation and services.
  • Support reputation management and advise on sensitive business issues, organisational developments and emerging risks.
  • Manage media relations, including proactive storytelling, media enquiries, press releases, statements, briefing materials and journalist engagement.
  • Develop press releases, statements, key messages, Q&As and other external communications materials.
  • Monitor the external environment for reputational opportunities and risks.
  • Contribute to crisis and issues communications planning and response.
  • Manage external communications agencies and partners.
  • Develop executive communications, leadership messaging and thought leadership activities.
  • Create presentations, FAQs, briefing documents and communications materials for strategic initiatives.
  • Translate complex topics into clear, engaging, audience-focused communications with leaders and stakeholders.
  • Oversee corporate content across the website, LinkedIn and other external platforms.
  • Partner with the Editorial Manager on content priorities and storytelling opportunities.
  • Build stakeholder relationships and provide communications advice and support.
  • Measure communications effectiveness and identify improvements.
  • Promote communications best practice, governance and consistency.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years' experience in corporate communications, public relations, external communications or a related field.
  • Experience developing and delivering integrated communication strategies, plans and campaigns.
  • Strong media relations and reputation management experience.
  • Experience supporting executive communications and senior leadership messaging.
  • Excellent writing, editing and storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics and create compelling narratives.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and experience working within complex, international organisations.
  • Experience managing sensitive communications and supporting issues or crisis communications activity.
  • Experience working across a broad range of communications channels, platforms and audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365, Copilot and modern communications tools.
  • Experience in healthcare, professional services, consulting or other regulated environments is advantageous.
  • Strong judgement, credibility and discretion.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strategic thinker with a practical, hands-on approach.
  • Confident working with senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Strong relationship builder and collaborator.
  • Highly organised, adaptable and able to manage multiple priorities.
