About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Partner with Steady State teams to understand day-to-day operational work through interviews and shadowing
- Analyze ServiceNow ticket data to identify recurring, manual, and time-consuming tasks and quantify frequency and effort
- Prioritize automation opportunities based on ticket volume, risk, and operational impact
- Build automation use cases with Steady State leadership
- Codify best practices, critical procedures, and maintenance/deployment tasks into reusable Ansible playbooks and roles
- Design and maintain Terraform Infrastructure as Code for repeatable provisioning and configuration
- Build and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines to package, test, and safely deploy automation to production
- Manage secrets, credentials, and certificates through HashiCorp Vault
- Use JFrog Artifactory, including Xray, Catalog, and Curation, to manage and secure automation artifacts
- Validate automation against existing manual procedures before retiring manual processes
- Track and report automation coverage and reductions in manual ticket volume
- Document automated processes, playbooks, and pipeline configurations
- Monitor ticket trends and maintain the automation backlog
Requirements
What you’ll need- 6–8 years of experience in automation, DevOps, or platform engineering roles
- BA/BS degree or equivalent experience
- Hands-on production experience with Ansible, Terraform, GitLab CI/CD, and HashiCorp Vault
- Experience analyzing ticket/incident data using ServiceNow or a similar ITSM tool
- Experience gathering requirements from operations teams through interviews and process walkthroughs
- Working knowledge of Windows and Linux systems administration, storage, and backup operations
- Solid scripting ability in Bash, Python, PowerShell, or similar
- Understanding of DevSecOps principles and software supply chain security
- Ability to operate independently with minimal oversight
- Strong communication skills across development, security, and operations teams
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes preferred
- ServiceNow and Power BI reporting/dashboarding experience preferred
- Eligibility for any required U.S. Government authorizations related to export-controlled commodities and technology
