About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Maintain and develop COBOL applications for Unisys mainframe platforms
- Define functional and non-functional requirements
- Define technical solutions and estimate effort and timelines, ensuring delivery within the established schedule
- Write code and perform unit testing
- Collaborate with the team on a daily basis to assess activity progress and project risks, promoting a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Contribute across disciplines to help the team achieve its goals by actively participating in discussions and providing support whenever necessary
- Collaborate with other team members to promote software development and maintenance best practices, encouraging innovation and continuous improvement
Requirements
What you’ll need- Knowledge of and experience developing applications using COBOL
- Knowledge of and experience working in teams using Agile methodologies, including Scrum or Kanban
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field
- Experience with software engineering and systems development processes, including analysis, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance
- Experience developing in a Unisys mainframe environment, including COMS, DMSII, SDF, and CANDE
- Knowledge of automated unit and integration testing (TDD/ATDD) for COBOL routines
- Knowledge of BDD methodology
- Flexible, collaborative, and proactive
- Empathy, ability to work collaboratively in a team, and excellent interpersonal skills
- Commitment to continuous learning
- Initiative, decision-making ability, leadership mindset, and emotional intelligence
- 0–2 years of experience
